Benson, Dora Ledbetter Harless, Infant Harless, Lonzo Thrasher, Mindy Benson, Daughter of Dora Benson Benson, Daughter of Dora Benson Holly Springs was organized just after Mount Moriah Free Will Baptist Church about 1846. The Rev. Ellis Gore who formed Mount Moriah also formed Holly Springs. He came into Pickens County on horse back from Fayetteville, North Carolina. After he organized Mount Moriah he rode back to North Carolina and soon returned to organize Holly Springs. In 1851 the Mount Moriah Association was formed with twelve churches. Four of those churches were in Pickens County: Mount Moriah, Holly Springs, Shiloh, and Friendship. The ministers that were serving the Mount Moriah Association at that time were: W. H. McGee, J. R. Robertson, W. Springfield, J. H. Jordan, D. G. W. Hollis, E. M. Vail, W. R. Latham, J. H. Hinton, I. T. Neighbors, and J. E. McGee. The building that stands today has been there for many years. It is a simple one-room frame structure with a small annex on one side that was added in the late 1990s. The Church is now used as a community center and has an annual homecoming every September.
