Signing the bond as sureties were John B. Hough & Peter Hough. Heirs: Mary Jenkins, the widow; James E. Jenkins, MS; Nancy, wife of John DuBose, Montgomery Co., AL; John D. Jenkins; William H. Jenkins; Daniel T. Jenkins; Wiley W. Jenkins; Lucy E. Rowell, Rotton, Routen or Roughton (spelled all these ways);& Charles L. Jenkins & Mary A. Jenkins, minors residing with their mother. A list of heirs as of Dec. 1870: James E. Jenkins, Coffee Co. AL; John D. Jenkins, Barbour Co. AL; Nancy Terry, wife of W.S. Terry, Bullock Co. AL; Charles L. Jenkins, Teresa Parish, LA; Wiley W. Jenkins, Pike Co. AL; Lucy E. Routen, wife of J.S. Routen, Bullock Co.; & Lula Hooks, minor heir of Mary A. Hooks, deceased, living with her father, Marshall D. Hooks, in Pike Co. By this time the widow was deceased, William H. Jenkins was deceased, & Daniel T. Jenkins was deceased. The estate owed Jones & Bell for burial items bought on Dec. 13, 1858 - 20 yds. linen, 9 1/2 yds. velvet, 1 vest, 1 pair gloves, 1 pair of socks, 7 yds. lace, 2 12 yes. broadcloth, 6 yds. ribbon, brass tacks, 6 coffin screws, 7 yds. black lace & 1 cravat. The administrators paid this bill on Jan. 23, 1860. On Dec. 31, 1859 the estate paid W.H. Jenkins $125.20 for building a house for the grave on August 15, 1859 & for work done on the farm. On Jan. 14, 1859 the administrators petitioned the Court to keep the property together for the present year, as it was not a good time to sell it. They stated that it consisted of land & farm tools, a large number of slaves, & stock. Dower of 160 acres was set off for the widow on Dec. 8, 1859. After her death, this land reverted back to the estate. Property sold on Jan. 17, 1859 for $25,177.25 included 400 acres of land, the home lot, for $4000; 160 acres of pine land for $800; an interest in mill & land, $2000; 3 yokes of steers, 21 head of cattle, stock hogs, goats, horses & mules, 1 jackass, 25 sheep, & plows. The estate had $1448.85 money on hand & from notes collected & $1151.25 from sale of the cotton crop in 1859. Items purchased in 1860 by Miss Mary Ann S. Jenkins fro McRay & McDonald at Garriorville, AL included ladies calf shoes, velvet, 1 dictionary, 2 pocket combs $ 1 roach comb. In 1860 Mary A. S. Jenkins purchased from Oliver Youngblood 13 yds. of Berage, 1 dress pattern, 1 hoop, 4 yds. of flannel, shoes, swiss, fringe, green worsted, 1 cloak, 1 yd. of Holland & gloves. John D. Jenkins, co-administrator of the estate of Wiley Jenkins, deceased, paid Dr. J. H. Reynolds for 5 visits to Miss Mary Ann S. Jenkins in Feb. 1860 & 8 visits to her in Sept. 1861. On Nov. 15, 1861 one of the administrators paid James E. Barnett $5 for board of Mary Ann S. Jenkins. Final Settlement occurred on April 10, 1871. Description of land ( will not list) On Nov. 15, 1869 John D. Jenkins bought the NE 1/4 of NW 1/4, NW 1/4 of NW 1./4 Sec. 11; SE 1/4 of SW 1/4, SW 1/4 of SW 1/4, NW 1/4 of SE 1/4, NE 1/4 of SW 1/4 & SW 1/4 of NW 1/4 Sec. 2, all in T. 12, R. 22, Bullock Co. for $1380. M. J. Bean bought 160 acres of land for $776 & 1/3 interest in the mill & land for $700.00. J.B Hough bought 40 acres for $120 & W.M. Parish bought 80 acres for $352. On Dec. 29, 1859 Daniel T. Jenkins bought 80 acres for $560 & the widow Mary Jenkins bought 40 acres for $280. Some or all of the land of the deceased was originally in Pike County but later in Bullock County. Land set off as dower for the widow was SE 1/4 of SW 1/4 & SW 1/4 of SE 1/4 Sec. 2 & NE 1/4 of NW 1/4 & NW 1/4 of NW 1/4 Sec. 11, T. 12, R. 22. At her death this reverted back to the estate. Slaves: William Jenkins bought the slave Jackson for $1420 & the slave Jude or Judia for $540; Mary A. Jenkins bought Adam for $400 & Ellen for $500; Patrick Calhoun bought Sam for $1815 & Ben for $1900; Charles Jenkins bought Henry for $1250 & Alex or Aleck for $900; Nancy Dubose bought Tom for $900 & Ann for $1150; Lucy E. Rowell bought Dafney for $700; Daniel Jenkins bought Moriah & her child Rachel for $1570' Washington Jenkins bought Nathan for $800 & a girl slave for $950; & Mary Jenkins bought John, Jane & Sam for $300 & Mary & her child for $1200. Other slaves mentioned were Sarah, Judge & Perry. Additional Comments: Wiley & Mary Hough Jenkins' daughter Nancy Terry was my GGGGM. She was married to William Strom Terry in 1847 in AL (per her Confederate Pension). She is buried in Sweetwater, Nolan Co. TX. Her husband W.S. Terry is buried in Brandon, Hill Co. TX. (I do not understand the Dubose name;it's a mystery) Mary Jenkins' brothers were John B. Hough and Peter Hough. I have no information about this Jenkins family except this abbreviated estate settlement that was sent to me a few years ago. Any further information about the Jenkins family would be greatly appreciated! My connection to this family is through Thomas Moses Boswell(also of Pike & Bullock Co.) who married Mary E. Terry daughter of W.S. and Nancy Jenkins Terry.
