Hilliard, Judge Probate Court, Pike County: The petition of the undersigned L. E. Barnhill respectfully represents that Robert Anderson depart this life in said County on or about the 22nd day of August 1889, leaving no last will or testament, so far as your petitioner knows or believes, and that his death was known more than fifteen days before this day; and this petition further shows that the said Robert Anderson was at the time of his death an inhabitant of this County, Pike and died seized and possessed of personal estate in this State consisting chiefly of notes and money - household & furniture & one mule all said personal estate being estimated to be worth about One Thousand dollars, and probably not more; that the names, residence, ages and condition of the heirs, and distributees of the estate of said decedent, so far as yours petitioner knows or believes, are as follows, to wit: Lizzie Barnhill, wife of Petitioner over the age of 21 years Emily Walden wife of J. C. Walden over the age of 21 years Ellen Jones, Isaac Jones, Alice Jones, Robert Jones all minors over 14 years of age & Lizzie Jones, Jas. K. Jones, Lena Jones, Maggie Jones & Carrie Jones, minors under 14 years of age - children of Jams D. Jones & who were children of Margaret F. Jones dec'd who was a Daughter of dec'd. Robert A. Anderson & Eliza Anderson miners over the age of 14 years- children of Starling Anderson dec'd who was a son of said Robert Anderson dec'd - Joel D. Murphree is their Guardian & all reside in Pike County, Alabama. That said dec'd left no widow and petitioner is in the right of his wife who is a daughter & next of kin of decedent interested in said estate that your petitioner being a son in law & interested in the said estate in the right of his wife of said deceased, an inhabitant of this State, above age of twenty-one years, and in no respect disqualified under the law from serving as an administrator, believing that the said estate should be immediately administered, to the end that said property may be collected and preserved for those who shall appear to have a legal right or interest therein, does, therefore, by virtue of his right under the statute, pray that your Honor will grant Letters of Administration on the said estate to him your petitioner upon his entering into bond in such sum as is required by the state, and with such security or securities as shall be approved by your Honor. s/ L.
