ALGenWeb Archive File Manager - Carolyn Golowka October 1998 Deed Record of William & Nancy Boutwell - Pike Co., AL The State of Alabama ) Know ye all men of these persons that I John Pike County ( Boutwell for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and seventyfive dollars and in hand, paid by John Long the receipt whereof I hereby acknowledge have given, granted, bargain ed and sold John the South East quarter of the Northwest quarter of section number nine and range Number twenty two as described upon the Plate at the United States land office at Sparta, Alabama which said lands are now in peaceable possession under a certificate from the land office at Sparta aforesaid to have and to hold the said lands with improvements unto said John J. Long to him and his heirs forever. In witness whereof I have herewith set our hands and seals this 22nd day of January A.D. 1839 Lucius Reeves John Boutwell Frances P. Anders I Nancy Boutwell do hereby Remise, Release, and Relinquish and forever quit claim to my right of dower in the above described Lands to the above named John J. Long and to his heirs forever voluntarily and freely and of my own act and accord without being influenced by any threat or compulsion from my said husband John Boutwell this 22nd ofJanuary 1839 Witness John R. Byrd Nancy Boutwell I have examined the above named Namcy Boutwell seperate and apart from her husband John Boutwell and she saids that she Voluntarily and freely executed the above Relinquishment of Dower as named and expressed in Relinquishment to said John J. Anders one of the subscribing witnesses to the written deed who being duly sworn deposith and saith that he saw the within named John Boutwell sign, seal and deliver within deed to the said John J. Long that he this deponent subscribed his name as a witness thereto in the Presence of the said John Boutwell and that he saw Lucius Reeves sign the same as a witness in the presence of the said John Boutwell and in the presence of each other on the day and year therein mentioned.
