Shields, Grantee, Oct. 1846, recorded Dec. 9, 1846 State of Alabama} Pike County} Know all men by these presents that we Eli Townsend & John Hardy of the State and County aforesaid for & inconsideration of the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars in hand paid by George W. Shields of the county and state aforesaid have bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain sell and release unto the said George W. Shields a certain tract or parcel of land Known and distinguished as the South West 1/4 of the South West 1/4 of Section fourteen and North West 1/4 and South West 1/4 of the Northwest quarter of section twenty three Township twelve Range Twenty one containing one hundred and twenty acres more or less together with all and singular the premises above mentioned unto the said George W. Shields his heirs and assigns forever, we also bind our selves and our heirs Executors Administrators or assigns to warrant and forever to defend all and singular the premises above named to the said George W. Shields, his heirs and assigns (written signs) against our selves our heirs or the lawful claim or claims of all others whomsoever in testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hand and seal this the (blank space) ___th day of October in the year of our Lord 1846.
