Garrett, Oct 1, 1850 State of Alabama} Pike County} Know all men by these presence that I, George W. Shields and his wife, Mary Shields of the county and state aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and Eighty dollars to me in hand paid by Robert M. Garrett of County and State aforesaid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, I do by these presences give grant bargain sell alien and convey unto the said Robert M. Garrett the following described and to wit, the East half of the South East fourth of Section No. Sixteen of Township No. Twslor (Twelve?) of Range Twenty One containing Eighty acres more or less, To have and to hold the above granted. Premises to the said Robert M. Garrett, his heirs and assigns to thereon property and behoof forever, and I do covenant with the said Robert M. Garrett his heirs and assigns that I am lawfully seized in fee of the aforegranted premises, and that I have a good right to sell and convey the same and that I will warrant and defend the right and title of the same to the said Robert M. Garrett, his heirs and assigns forever from my Self, my heirs and assigns against the lawfull claims of all persons whatever, in witness of them hereunto set my hand and seal this the 16th day of October 1850. s/ George W. Brooks an acting Justice of the Peas for Pike County and State of Alabama the above named George W. Shields and his wife, Mary Shields who acknowledged that they signed seal and delivered the forgoing deed on the day and year therein mentioned to the said Robert M. Garret.
