TO WILLIAM GILMORE Book E, page 185, James Shields [X] to William Gilmore, October 29, 1846 Know all men by these presents that I, James Shields of the State of Alabama and County of Pike for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to me in hand paid by William Gilmore of the State and County aforesaid the receipt whereof I can hereby acknowledge same hereby give grant bargain sell enfeoff and confirm unto the said William Gilmore all that Tract of Land Lying in the County of Pike on the waters of Berghall? Creek known in the original Survey as the South West 1/4 of North West quart of Section NO. 7 township No. 12 of the Range No. 23 Cahaba Land District, State of Alabama containing forty acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the aforegranted premises to the said William Gilmore, his heirs and assigns to the heir use and behoof forever and I do covenant with the said William Gilmore his heirs and assigns that I am Lawfully seized in fee of the aforegranted premises that they are free of all encumbrances that I have a good right to sell and convey the same to the said William Gilmore his heirs and assigns and that I will warrant and Defend the said premises assigns forever against the Lawfull claims and demands of all person Whatsoever.
