CHANEY The State of Alabama} Pike County} Know all men by these presents that we Joseph W. Anderson & Caroline P., his wife for the following consideration to wit: Three Hundred Dollars the receipt of which we do hereby acknowledge have hereby bargained sold and conveyed and by these present do bargain sell convey unto William J. Chaney his heirs and assigns the following described property to wit: A lot or parcel of land in the Town of Troy in said County commencing at a point in the Three Notched Road, at the South East Corner of a lot (next line is unreadable as the bottom half of the words are cut off) wide Four feet, to a division fence thence along said fence West to the Street between Anderson Lot and Wiley's thence, North along said Street one hundred and four feet to the above mentioned lot of Ansley Carr thence down the South side of said Lot to the place of beginning. To have and to hold the said premises to his use and behoof forever. And we the said Joseph W. & Caroline P. Anderson so covenant with the said William J. Chaney that the said Land is free from all encumbrances that we have a good right to convey the same and that we will warrant and defend the title hereby conveyed to the said Wm. J. Adams, s/ Shep Ruffin The State of Alabama} Pike County} I, Bird Fitzgerald of the Court of Probate in and for the State and County aforesaid hereby certify that Shep Ruffin a subscribing witness tot he foregoing conveyance known to me appeared before me this day and being sworn stated that J. W. & C. P. Anderson, the grantors in the conveyance were voluntarily executed the same in his presence and in the presence of the other subscribing witness on the day the same bears date that he attested the same in the presence of the grantee and of the other witness and that such other witness subscribed his name as a witness in his presence.
