Know all men by these presents that we Samuel J. Shields and Jane A. Shields, 
the wife of Samuel J. Shields of the County & State Aforesaid for & in 
consideration of the sum Three hundred Dollars to me in hand paid by Solomon 
Johnson of the State & county aforesaid the receipt where of we do hereby 
Grant Bargain Sell in fee off & confirm unto the said Solomon Johnson the 
following tracts or parcel of Land Situated lying and being in the County of 
Pike to Wit: the east half of north west quarter of Section No. Twenty one in 
the Township No. Twelve of range No. Twenty-one containing eighty acres more 
or less to have & to hold the said land to him the said Solomon Johnson & 
his heirs forever and we the said Samuel J. Shields & Jane A. Shields for our 
selves our heirs Executors Administrators or assigns do hereby warrant & 
defend the said land to the said Solomon Johnson his heirs & assigns from the 
lawfull claim or claims of all person whomsoever in testimony whereof we have 
Set our hand and affixed our seals this April the 2nd AD 1853

voluntarily on the day the same bears date Given under my hand this August 
the 12th AD 1853
