CATRETT Book K N page 455-456 Pike County Deed The State of Alabama} Pike County} Know all men by these presents that we S. J. Shields and A. J. Shields, his wife, for and in consideration of One Hundred Dollars to us in hand paid by W. J. Catrett, the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, enfeoff and confirm unto the said W. J. Catrett, his heirs and assigns, the following described lot or parcel of land, to wit: The SW 1/4 of SE 1/4 & SE 1/4 of SW 1/4, Sec. 32 T. 11 & R. 21 containing eighty acres more or less, lying in said county. To have and to hold the aforegranted premises to the said W. J. Catrett, his heirs, assigns, to their use and behoof forever. And we do covenant with the said W. J. Catrett, his heirs and assigns that we are lawfully seized in fee of the aforegranted premises that they are free from all encumbrances; that we have a good right to sell and convey the same to the said W. J. Catrett his heirs and assigns; and that will warrant and defend the premises to the said W. J. Catrett, his heirs and assigns forever, against the lawful claims of all persons. In witness whereof we, the said S. J. & A. J. Shields, have hereunto set our hands and seals, this 3rd day of August 1868. S. J. Shields (seal) Jane A. Wood, Judge of the Court of Probate, in and for the State and County aforesaid, hereby certify that J. F. Shields, a subscribing witness to the foregoing conveyance, known to me appeared before me this day and being sworn stated that S. J. Shields and Jane A. Shields, his wife, the grantors in the conveyance, voluntarily executed the same in his presence and in the presence of the other subscribing witness, on the day the same bears date; that he attested the same in the presence of the grantors and of the other witness; and that such other witness subscribed his name as a witness in his presence.
