All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/al/alfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Michelle Taunton mtaunton@mindspring.com October 15, 2005, 10:26 am Written: April 23, 1842 Pike County, Alabama Deed Book C, page 24, 23 April 1842: Know all men by these presents that I Henry Taunton of the County of Pike and State of Alabama for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and thirty dollars to me in hand paid by Thomas Cole of Coffee County and State aforesaid, the receipt which of I do hereby acknowledge do hereby grant bargain sell _____ and confirm unto the said Thomas Cole the following described land situated in Pike County to wit The South half of the South east quarter of section twenty seven Township Thirteen of Range twenty two within Cahaba land district Ala. and the South west quarter of the south West quarter of section Twenty six Township thirteen of Range twenty two in same District and the North east quarter of section thirty three of Township nine of Range twenty one and the east half of the North east quarter of section three of Township eight of Range twenty one and the South west quarter of section two of Township eight of Range twenty one of the Sparta land District Ala. To have and to hold to the said Thomas Cole his heirs and assigns the above granted premises to their use and behoof forever and I do covenant with the said Thomas Cole his heirs and assigns that I am lawfully sized in fee of the aforegranted premises that they are free of all incumbrances that I have a good right to sell and convey the same to the said Thomas Cole his heirs and assigns and that I will warrant and defend the same against the lawful claims and ______ of all persons. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 23d day of April A.D. 1842.
