Hartsfield and Elizabeth Hartsfield for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred Dollars sum in hand paid by Joseph W. Anderson the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge do hereby grant bargain sell enfeoff and confirm unto the said Joseph W. Anderson the following described lot or parcel of land in the Town of Troy Pike County Alabama. Known in a part of the east end of lot No. one and in Block No. four the front part of said lot is north on the public Square from the north east Corner of Dalby's Hotel & the North West Corner J. P. Allred lot now occupied by Wiley W. Hartsfield, & Jones as a law Office thence down the line __ sixteen feet thence South & the W--t of said H... and thence along said Wall of the house to the said NC corner except the ground upon which the Chimneys of the Hotel Stands-- To have and to hold the aforegranted premises & the said Joseph W. Anderson his heirs and assigns & their use and behoof forever and in covenant with he said Joseph W. Anderson his heirs and assigns that said on lawful signed in fee of the aforegranted premises and the said land is free of encumbrances we have a good right to sell and convey the same to the said Joseph W. Anderson his heirs and assigns and that we will warrant and defend the premises & the said Joseph W. Anderson his heirs and assigns forever against the lawfull claim and demand of all persons. In Witness whereof we the said Wiley W. Hartsfield and Elizabeth Hartsfield have hereunto set our hand and seal this 28th day of October in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and fifty six. s/ W. W.
