Civil  War
Willioughby served asa Private in Co H 53th Regiment Partisan Rangers.He 
enlisted at Elba,Coffee Co;Alabama August 18 1862.The regiment was organized in 
Montgomery,Alabama in November 1862.He was in Ocmulgee Hospital in Macon 
Georgia January 2 1865 til February 11 1865.He lived in Coffee County during 
the Civil War.Two of its company has served in the 7th Regiment befor.Men of 
this unit were from 
Autauga,Lauderdale,Macon,pike,Coosa,Tallapoosa,Dallas,Monroe,Wilcox,Lowndes,Dale
,Coffee, and Montgomery.It first served in the District of The Gulf and in 
December it contained 517 effectives.It was later assigned to Roddey's and M W 
Hannon's Brigade,Wheeler's Corps.The unit saw action at Thompson's 
Station.Brentwood,and Town Creek,was involed in the Atlanta Campaign,then 
participated in the defense of Savannah and campaign of the Carolinas.Only a 
small number surrendered in April,1865.Colonel Moses W Hannon,Lieutenant 
Colonel John F Gaines,and Major Thomas F Jenkins were in command.

Willoughby was born November 24 1827 Pike Co;Alabama,died March 16 1915 
Winnsboro,Wood Co;Texas.His parents were Burrell B Pugh and Barbary C 
Smith,Pike Co;Alabama.He married Elizabeth Pheeby Rushing February 21 1856 Pike 
Co;Alabama.Elizabeth parents were William Cain Rushing and Mary Ann 
Rushing,Pike Co:Alabama.Willoughby and Elizabeth are buried at Hopewell 
Cemetery in Wood Co;Texas.
