"Our old friend Cornelius Smart presented us with the largest apple it
has been our good fortune to see this season, and indeed, the largest
round apple that we ever saw. It measures one way just 12 inches, and
the other 11 inches in circumference. Its weight was 11 ounces. Who can
beat it?" (1)
