Mr. Johnson was under the influence of liquor, and maltreated his wife and children. The neighbors made an ineffectual effort to get him to desist, when he threatened their lives and they left the house. He then began whipping his wife and children, and went into the yard for a fence rail, and returned to the house. As he entered, his son fired upon him with a pistol, killing him instantly. No arrest was made of young John, and it is thought, none will be made. – Columbus (Ga.) Enquirer.
