"List of Casualties in the 57th Ala. Regt. at the battles of Kinston and 
Bentonville, North Carolina.  March 19, 20, and 22 ult.
     John Grimes - slight in thigh
     W'm Taylor - finger amputated
     S. Curry - Slight in leg
     S. Bush - right shoulder
     L. Roberts - right side
     Lt. F. G. Colbert - in elbow
     Lt. J. W. Guilford - face severe
     Lt. M. J. Redman - killed on field
     Lt. H. G. Spear - in shoulder
     J. M. Cook - killed
     J. T. McGlaun - killed
     W. R. Wingate - in thigh slight
     W. S. Gainer - side slight
     Ivy Balkam - in hip
     J. C. Sharp - right thigh amputated
Lt. Colbert and Spear are still with their companies.  The loss in the 57th was 
much lighter than any other in the Brigade, owing to the advantage in the 
position they occupied."
