(9-30-1901 – 11-16-1970) Mr. Milton C. Carter, 69, Route 1 Troy, Ala., Pike Co., died Mon., Nov. 16, 1970. Funeral services were Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Elam Primitive Baptist Church north of Goshen, Ala., with Elder J. P. Morgan officiating. Burial was in the adjoining Elam-Davison Memorial Cemetery, with McGehee Funeral Home of Troy directing. Mr. Carter is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Alice Spivey Carter, Route 1 Troy; two daughters, Mrs. Jane Carter Nichols, Gadsden, Ala., and Mrs. Lois Carter Stephens, Burlington, Mass.; two sons, W. Herman Carter, Vienna, Va., and Lowell M. Carter, Luverne, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. Ina Graddy, Georgetown, Ga., and Mrs. Ethelyn Gibson, Route 1 Troy; four brothers, J. S. Carter and Marvin Carter of Route 1 Troy, Jennings Carter, Monroeville, Ala., and Elkin Carter, Eufaula, Ala; and 12 grandchildren. Nephews served as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were employees of Pike County District No. 4 and the deacons of Elam Primitive Baptist Church. Additional Comments: Censuses show that children born to Mr. & Mrs. Carter included William Herman, Jane Eva, Lois, Lowell M., and Betty Clara. Mr. Carter was the son of William Josiah and Nancy Alice Davison Carter.
