Her funeral will be Sat., May 25, at 3 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church in Troy, with Rev. John Clark and Rev. W. O. Sanders officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery at Goshen, Ala., Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service time. Survivors include her widower, George W. Carter, Sr., of Troy; one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Bobby Southerland of Dothan, Ala.; one son and daughter-in-law, George W. “Billy” and Cindy Carter of Troy; two sisters, Kathleen Howard, Montgomery, Ala., and Sarah Sander, Omaha, Neb.; and two grandchildren, Daniel Southerland and Amanda Carter. Pallbearers will be Kenneth M. Carter, Russ Howard, Jimmy Shaver, Carter J. Sanders, Harris Ball, and Wade Green. Mrs. Carter lived most of her life in Pike County and taught school for 33 years, including at Goshen High School. She was a member and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma and a member of Southside Baptist Church in Troy.
