B. Farmer Elder J. B. Farmer was born near Glenwood, Pike County, Alabama, November 8, 1869. He was married to Miss Sarah Fraces Smith in Pike County December 3, 1894. There were born to this union ten children -- five boys and five girls, who survive him. He was united with the Primitive Baptist Church in Georgia, near Cairo, and was baptized by one Elder King in 1897. In 1898 he moved back to Alabama near Rutlidge, and used his letter at Rutlidge Church, and in 1899 he moved his membership to Bersheba Church. In 1901 he again moved his membership - this time to Evergreen Church at Elba, Alabama, and January 10th, 1903, places his membership at New Home Church: was liberated to the stand to exercise his gift June 13, 1903. In January 1905, used his letter at New Providence Church and was ordained to the full functions of the Gospel in June, 1905, by a Presbatery consisting of Elders H. O. Rhodes, G. W. C. Wse and E. I. Maloy. In 1912 he moved to Florida and used his letter at New Travelers Church. He lived in Florida four years and moved back to Alabama, near Florala, and used his letter December 9, 1916, at Prospect Church. He served Prospect Church continuously for 26 years. Elder Farmer preached his last sermon at Prospect Church July 8, 1939. Elder Farmer served as moderator of the Third District Meeting for 20 years or more. Elder Farmer departed this life September 13, 1940. Elder Farmer was loved and honored by all Primitive People far and near; was known, almost over Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. He was wonderfully esteemed by the Clay Bank Baptist Association. He was a most loving father and husband. Elder Farmer preached the Gospel of God Our Saviour for 35 years, contending for Salvation by Grace for time and eternity. Written by the order of the Clay Bank Baptist Association. Elder J. W.
