FOLMAR, KILLED INSTANTLY IN WRECK Oscar Presley Folmar, 23, Goshen, Ala., Rt. 2, Pike County, was killed instantly in a head-on truck collision about 12 miles northeast of Troy, Ala., Friday afternoon, according to Highway Patrolman Joe Gafford. Folmar’s brother, Travis K. Folmar, 35, assistant county engineer, and Ivey Lee Daughtry, 23, Elba Rt. 2, were injured in the same accident and were rushed to Troy hospitals. Neither was believed to be in serious danger Saturday. The younger Folmar was thrown from the truck in which he was riding with his brother when it was struck by a dump truck driven by Daughtry, according to the highway patrolman’s report. Daughtry told the investigating officer he lost control of the truck when it hit a soft spot in the road. The accident occurred on the Saco road now under construction, about 5 p.m. Friday. Damages to the dump truck driven by Daughtry were estimated at $400, and damages to the other vehicle were set at $300. Travis Folmar, who suffered chest injuries and abrasions, was taken to Beard Hospital for treatment, and Daughtry was rushed to Edge Hospital. Additional Comments: Presley Folmar was the son of James “Jim” Ross and Mayme Davis Folmar of Goshen. He was the sixth of eight children, had served in WWII, and had not married. He was buried in Elam-Davison Memorial Cemetery north of Goshen, just down the hill from where his parents lived and where he grew up. His work was with Pike County, Ala., road construction, and he and Travis were on-the-job in the construction on Saco Road when Presley was killed.
