C. Rushing, who reside in the same locality. Thus they fade away, as mist before the above until he shall make up his jewels. The old, the young, the middle-aged. None are free from the penalty of the law. All that is created must come to an end, all that are born must die. Happy are they who, like her of whom we write, shall be so fully ready for the summons when their Lord shall call." (E. W. B. Researched by Ron Bridges on 20 Jan 2004. Additional Comments: Temperance Rushing was born about 1796 in SC and died 9 July 1876. She married Cornelious Smart about 1816 in SC. Cornelious Smart was born about 1799 in NC and died 7 Apr 1875 in Pike Co., AL. Temperance and Cornelius had migrated from SC to Montgomery Co., AL. They later moved to Pike Co., AL, and settled on the Blind Jack Road. They joined the Beulah Primitive Baptist Church in Pike Co., AL on 6 February 1836. Cornelious was a deacon for may years and served on committees conducting church business. Both are buried in Beulah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Pike Co., AL. The obituary is probably the accurate date but there is a discrepancy.
