He was buried in Hopewell Community Cemetery, Henderson, Alabama. He was born near Henderson on Aug. 24, 1892, and was the son of William and Millie Norris Locklar. He married on Oct. 5, 1922, to Linnie Rochelle Schofield of Camp Ground, Ala., and they lived at Henderson for 54 years and reared their sons Rex and Wiley there. Mr. Locklar worked for Paul’s General Merchandise from about 1918 and lived in the Otis Paul home at the time he and Mrs. Locklar married – so that the couple lived there after marriage for a few months until setting up their own place. In 1922, he went into business for himself and operated his store in more than one building over the years. It was in its last location for 12 years and served a large area. He also was involved in farming. He was a member of Henderson Methodist Church for more than 50 years, served as steward for many years, and was the one who rang the church bell on Sunday mornings. He made many contributions to the Darby’s Beat area in which he lived. He was trustee of Henderson School for 21 years, a member of the Pike County FHA Committee for five years, and was a member of the elections committee in Beat 9 for a number of years. He supported the Pike County Lake and also the Pike Pioneer Museum, where he participated in activities. Additional Comments: Information for this writing was found at ancestry.com and mostly in a memorial written about Mr. Locklar by an unnamed friend … maybe written 1977 and published on Sept. 18, 1977. That item mentioned that he grew up with four sisters and that, upon death, he had three living grandchildren and one deceased.
