Trail, 79, formerly of Chicago, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at his daughter's home in Troy. Mr. Trail was an electrician with Local Union No. 134 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Chicago. He also served in the Army as Scout 761 with Troop B 112th Horse Calvary. He fought in battles during World War II in the Rhineland, Normandy, Ardennes, Central Europe and Northern France. He was born Sept. 27, 1921, in Ava, Mo., the son of Scott and Melissa Hatfield Trail. He lived in Wallace, Mo., before he moved to Chicago, where he lived for 50 years. He lived in Hartford, Ala., before he moved to Troy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Trail. Survivors include a daughter, Connie Potter, Troy; two stepdaughters, Nancy Nance, Glendale Heights, Ill., and Carol Lay, Berlin, Md.; five sisters, Nellie Amos, Mount Prospect, Ill., Peggy Kessler, St. Joseph, Mo., Jesse Paige, Itan, Mo., Irene Lamar, Lamont, Ind., and Lucille Fortune, Dothan, Ala.; a brother, Russell Trail, St. Joseph, Mo.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Troy. Mr. Trail will lie in state after 8 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home where visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Kendallwood Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home.
