The tombstone of Nancy Jane Reeves was inscribed with “Nancy Jane Reeve Dau of M. A. Reeve (5/11/1858) (1/10/1886)” The M. A. would refer to her mother [Mary Ann], as her father had died in the War. The inscription was copied by Dorothy Williamson Schrieber about 10 or 15 years ago. [This would mean about 1987 to 1992.] James Ingram and Mary Gilmore are also buried there. Their graves are marked with native iron ore rocks with “J. I.” encircled on one and “M. I.” on the other. Additional Comments: Notes: Kathlyn Folmar noted that the 1860 U.S. Census shows Nancy Jane as about age 2. Her father was John Andrew Jackson Reeves, Confederate soldier, born Feb. 4, 1829, died July 1864. Her mother was Mary Ann Brooks, born about 1835. This old Ingram/Meredith Cemetery is in an area that once was part of Pike Co., Ala. … is near Josie off Bullock County Highway 45 in a very wooded area with fallen trees.
