Sgt. David W. Smith Dies From Injuries Sustained Sept. 23rd Recently Mrs. Emma M. Smith of South Highlands, Troy was notified that her son, Sergeant David W. Smith, was injured in action on last September 23rd, Tuesday Mrs. Smith received a telegram from the Adjutant General stating the the young paratrooper died the following day after being injured September 24th. The following is a copy of the telegram received by Mrs. Smith. **The Secretary of War** sadly that I insure you his deep sympathy in the loss of your son.Sergeant David W. Smith reports received states he died September 24th in France as a result of injuries received in action. The young soldier is survived by his mother, Mrs. Emma M. Smith, who lives on South Highland; his father Jasper L. Smith who lives in the city; Private Henry H.
