He worked as engineer in Hollywood and Lake City and as substation operator in Palatka, returning to the Lauderdale Plant in January of 1932. At Lauderdale he was successively piler, water tender, fireman, division load dispatcher, substation operator and switchboard operator. He was a member of the Hollywood First Baptist Church, being a deacon there. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
