Obit of William Burgess - Pike Co., AL

"Died - At his residence on Olustee Creek, in this county, Sunday
evening, the 2nd of Nov., William Burgess, in the 59th year of his age.
    Mr. Burgess was among the first settlers in Pike County. He left a
large family and numerous friends to deplore their loss of one who
'being dead, yet speaketh,' by the exemplary life he lived, and the
peaceful death which followed that with him to die was gain.'  'An
honest man in the Noblest work of God.'"  (1)
