In the picture Stephen is the taller boy on the left (his mother's right), 
Elizabeth is in the middle, and Earnest is on the right.

Bullock County, Alabama.  Daughter of Harrison GRISSOM and Nancy WOOTEN.  
Married William Thomas WELCH 25 Oct 1867 Chattahoochee County, Georgia.  
William was b: 1842 Muscogee County, Georgia d: 1920 Bullock County, Alabama 
the son of John Thomas WELCH and Mary Grooms.
William and Elizabeth had 12 children: 
1.  Mary Jane WELCH (F) b: 06 Mar 1870 Georgia, d: 13 Mar 1949 Bullock County, 
Alabama.  Married Benjamin Soloman POPE 24 Apr 1890 Bullock County, Alabama.  
They had 11 children, 6 boys and 5 girls.
2.  William Thomas WELCH (M) b: Oct 1870 Chatthoochee County, Georgia, d: 1936 
Pike County, Alabama.  Married Maggie Drucilla MILLS 03 Oct 1897.  They had 4 
sons.
3.  James Robert Alexander WELCH (M) b: 24 Jan 1872 Cusseta, Chattahoochee 
County, Georgia, d: 14 Dec 1954 Fort Valley, Peach County, Georgia.  Married 
Susan Wilmont GRISSETTE 10 Oct 1901 Troy, Pike County, Alabama. They had 7 
children, 1 boy and 6 girls.
4.  Georgia Ann Virginia WELCH (F) b: 17 Oct 1875 Chattahoochee County, 
Georgia, d: ???? Pike County, Alabama.  Married Thomas Franklin GRISSETTE 14 
Jul 1901 Pike County, Alabama. They had 8 children, 2 boys and 6 girls. She 
was his second wife.
5.  Nancy Sallie WELCH (F) b: Abt. 1876 Chattahoochee County, Georgia, 
d: ????.  Married W. S. FAIRCHILD 19 Jul 1903 Pike County, Alabama.
6.  Susan E. WELCH (F) b: Abt. 1878 Chattahoochee County, Georgia, d: ???? Mt. 
Zomer, Georgia.  Married Ben  PHILLIPS.
7.  Elizabeth WELCH (F) b: 1879 Chattahoochee County , Georgia, d: 27 Jun 1916 
Bullock County, Alabama.  Married Henry BELL 08 Apr 1905.
8.  Gary Wood WELCH (M) b: 03 Apr 1879 Chattahoochee County , Georgia, d: Nov 
1968.  Married Lizzie unknown.  They had 13 children, 8 boys and 5 girls.
9.  Stephen A. WELCH (M) b: 07 Aug 1883 Pike County, Alabama, d: 09 Nov 1926 
Pike County, Alabama.  Married Sarah Frances MILES in Alabama.
10.  Earnest  WELCH (M) b: Oct 1887 Pike County, Alabama, d: ????.  Married 
Hassie  THOMAS in Georgia.
11.  Bud Charlie WELCH (M) b: Oct 1887 Pike County, Alabama, d: ????

Additional Comments:
Buried: Raymer Baptist Church Cemetery, located in the Josie community, on 
Highway 29 in northeast Pike County, near the Bullock County line. Thomas and 
Elizabeth are buried in a row of six unmarked graves.  
The Welch Plantation, Church and Cemetery is located on what in now Fort 
Benning Military Res., Georgia.
