GEORGE CAIN2 MESSICK was born May 1831 in Washington County, Georgia, USA, and 
died in Crenshaw County, Alabama (Darien Cemetery), USA.  He married (1) 
MARTHA O. MILLER 04 Jan 1850 in Alabama, USA.  She was born Jul 1833 in 
Alabama, USA, and died in Crenshaw County, Alabama (Darien Cemetery), USA.  He 
married (2) MARTHA ANN JACKSON 04 Jan 1880 in Pike County, Alabama, USA.  She 
was born Abt. 1835 in Alabama, USA.

Children of GEORGE MESSICK and MARTHA MILLER are:

1918, Dixie Community, Escambia County, Alabama (Mason Cemetery), USA.

Additional Comments:
Served as a private in CSA.  Enlisted in McLemire's Bat. B., Hilliard's Legion 
(Kolbs Battery)  in May 1862 and was discharged June 1865. Received a pension 
August 2, 1899.  This is the picture of George C. Messick in his Confederate 
uniform.  It's not real clear because it's a snapshot & made of the original 
picture, but you can see what he looked like.  I don't know when the picture 
was made, but I understand that it was the only picture he ever allowed to be 
made of him.  Also, the uniform was not his, but one the photographer 
provided.  The white spots on the picture are where paint was dripped on it a 
long time ago.
