Wills, 1844-1953 Alabama Probate Court Microfilm of original records at the Pike County courthouse, Troy Alabama Submitted by: Chere Lee State of Alabama Pike County June 22, 1844 Whereas life is uncertain & death sooner or later is sure, I do, therefore make this instrument as my last will & testament: namely, 1st I Bequeath my soul to god who gave it and my body to its kindle, dust, desiring only that it be intered in a plain & decent manner. 2nd I Bequeath to my dearly beloved wife Jane, all the property both real & personal of which Jane be possessed to be held by her for her own use for the support of our beloved children, during her natural life and at the ____ of whose decease I desire that said property be divided or sold & the proceeds thereof be equally divided amongst said children. And I do hereby nominate & appoint my said wife Jane Redmond to be & to act as the sole executor of this my last will and testament Signed, Sealed & Delivered in the presence of William Laurence John Redmon Asa Barnett (his mark) Tho Urquhart S___afhau___ State of Alabama Pike County Personally appeared before me Wm. H. Manning Judge of the County Court of Pike County William Lawrence one of the witness of the above will and testament of John Redmon late of Pike County deceased who bring duly sworn depassth and saith that he was present on the day when the said will purported to have been signed by John Redmon. That he saw each of the witnesses sign the aforesaid will that the said signature to said will was signed & acknowledged by said John Redmond in their presence severally in the presence of him to be his signature and that he signed published and declared the same to be his last will and testament and that said Testator at the time of signing the same was of sound mind disposing mind and of the age of twenty one years.
