I, Solomon Whitenton of the same county and state aforesaid, being in a low state of health, but of sound mind and perfect memory of mind do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament. Knowing that it is appointed that all men should die do hereby dispose of my worldly goods as follows. First of all I do resign my body to the dust, to be buried by my executors, and my soul to the hands of almighty God who gave it. Further I give my beloved wife Sarah Whitenton, all my lands and all my stock to wit, cattle, hogs, sheep geese, and farming utensils to belong together during life or widowhood, then to be sold on a six month credit, and money arising there- from to be equally divided between Elijah Whitenton, Polly Temple, Sarah Sessions, Jas. Whitenton, Achsah Tomlinson, Kinion Whitenton. Further I give my beloved wife Sarah Whitenton one bed and furniture, and bedstead to be disposed of at her own pleasure, further I give Elijah Whitenton a stock of cattle which I bought from Thomas McLure about thirteen head, further I give to Elijah Whitenton, one note of hand on Thomas McLure for one hundred twenty-three or four dollars, do on Jas. Whitenton for fifty dollars one do on Kenion Whitenton for twenty-three dollars and fifty cents, one account on William Tomlinson for twenty-two dollars and sixty cents. To be equally divided between them at the death or end of widowhood of my wife Sarah Whitenton. Further I give my son Henderson Whitenton one sorrel horse, one bed and furniture and one steel trap. I give to my son Doctor Ruffen Whitenton one iron grey colt, one bed and furniture, one steel trap and one black pied heifer by the name of Bet. Further I give and bequeath to my beloved son Jas. Whitenton my family bible. Further I leave to be sold one shotgun, one sorrel mare and mare’s saddle for the purpose of paying my just debts, and if anything is lacking take it out of the stock disposed of to make it out. I hereby appoint my beloved son Kenion Whitenton and my son in law R. D. Sessions to be my executors, to this my last will and testament-in witness thereof-I, the said Solomon Whitenton do set my hand and seal-this the twenty seventh of February A.D. 1844.
