He was one of at least 13 children born to Joseph and Hannah Prather Dollar. Brice and family moved from South Carolina to Meriwether County,Georgia between 1830 and July 1832. According to Deed records in Meriwether County, this land was north west of Odessadale and near the Troup County line. The land lot where the family lived was in the 7th District of Meriwether formerly Troup, land lot 171. The father of Brice died in 1833. Brice lived with his mother and siblings on the farm until he reached manhood. The Dollar family attended the County Line Baptist Church in Troup County. Brice met and married Naoma Oliver on the 11th of January in 1849. His marriage record was recorded in Meriwether yet a mark was struck through Meriwether and Troup was written below it. Brice worked on very large plantation in this western part of Meriwether County. The plantation covered over 4000 acres near Greenville, Georgia. According to excerpts written about this plantation in the book "Brooks of Honey and Butter", the plantation owner at that time was Simeon Peteet. Brice was hired as one of two overseers on this plantation. Mr. Peteet sold out his plantation and moved to Texas after 1850. The Woodward family purchased the plantation. Brice is recorded on the 1850 census for Meriwether living near the Peteet family and the family of Hannah Dollar. By the year 1852 Brice had bought a parcel of land near White Sulphur Springs. This land was near the Harris County line. The mother of Brice, Hannah Dollar, died in 1853. The estate of Joseph Dollar was finalized in 1856. Brice is listed as one of the legatees in the disposition of the estate. Brice sold the land that he had purchased to it's former owner in 1856 and thereafter moved with his family to Randolph County,Alabama. Brice moved to an area in the southern portion of the county known as Louina. He obtained a small 40 acre parcel of land and worked the farm. His family continued to grow when war broke out in 1861. He by this time had 6 children. He and his family survived the turmoil and strife of the war years and the hardships of the Reconstruction period. By the recording of the 1870 census, the family was located in Township 22 and Fairplay Post Office. The nation was hit by a financial panic in 1873 and by 1875 Brice could not pay his taxes and his property was up for sale at public auction. Brice died on 14 November of 1879 at not yet 55 years of age. He was survived by his wife Naoma and 8 of his children. Naoma did not remarry and lived with or near her children until her death on 4 September 1909. Brice and Naoma are buried in the Dollar/Jeter family cemetery.
