His father was Brice Dollar and his mother was Naoma Oliver Dollar. Charles was one of at least nine children born to Brice and Naoma. The family at that time were living in the area of Meriwether County near White Sulphur Springs. This land that the father of Charles had purchased in 1852 was in land lot 123 of District 3. The father of Charles sold out his land there in 1856 and Charles moved with his family to Randolph County, Alabama. The family lived in the southern part of the county near Louina in Township 21 and Range 11. Charles and his family endured the turmoil of the war years from 1861 to 1865. They then had to endure even more during the Reconstruction period. In 1870 he and his family lived in the area of Fairplay Post Office. Charles was a farm laborer and later became a minister. He became one of the pioneer ministers of the Christian Church in Alabama and Georgia. Many of his descendants also entered the ministry. Charles married Elizabeth Amanda Gaston about 1880. Her family lived nearby. Her father was Samuel Burns Gaston. Charles and Elizabeth were blessed with many children. Lola Dollar born October 29th 1881 John Daniel Dollar born March 28th 1883 John was also a minister and he founded Rock Stand Christian Church in Randolph County Samuel B. Dollar born December 2nd 1884 Charles Monroe Dollar Jr. born December 15th 1886 Elizabeth Belle Dollar born September 23rd 1888 George Hurley Dollar born September 30th 1890 Brice Dollar born September 10th 1892 Emma Dollar born November 30th 1894 Sallie Dollar born November 22nd 1896 Jessie Holiday Dollar born August 15th 1899 In 1900 Charles and his family lived at Bacon Level. He was the enumerator on the 1900 Census for Bacon Level Precint 12. All is recorded in his hand. Charles and his family lived in Wedowee Precint 6 in 1920. Charles died on February 21st 1927 and was buried at Rock Springs Cemetery,Randolph County. He was followed in death a number of years later by his wife Elizabeth. She died in 1936 and was buried near her husband at Rock Springs.
