He was a Captain in the United States Army during the Civil War, died app 1870; married Sarah Thrasher. 2. Smith, William Hugh born 4/9/1826, died 1/1/1899; married Lucy Wortham; they are buried in Jefferson County Alabama. William Hugh Smith was elected to the Registers of Chancery in 1851, then in 1856 he was elected State Representative, then again in 1857. By 1866 he was a Judge in the Circuit Count and by 1868 Governor of the State of Alabama. 3.
