ALGenWeb File Manager - Carolyn Golowka -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by William Fischer, Jr. February 2001 BAPTISTS HELD A GOOD MEETING --------------------- The annual session of the Randolph County Baptist Association, held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of last week [14-16 Oct 1919] with the church at Liberty East, was one of unusual interest and profit. Every church in the county was represented. The local community did a handsome part in the entertainment of the Association. The session was called to order by the clerk, S. J. DUNN, the moderator, Mr. G. W. HILL, having died during the year. Rev. H. R. MOORE was made the moderator temporarily, and was succeeded by Rev. J. D. O'KEEFE as permanent moderator. S. J. DUNN was reelected clerk and F. P. NICHOLS was reelected treasurer. A memorial service was held in honor of the deceased moderator, "Uncle George" HILL, conducted by Mr. MOORE, one [of] the oldest members of the Association. The high appreciation in which he was held was voiced by the speakers. [Portions of article omitted] The outside visitors were Rev. W. F. YARBROUGH, secretary of the mission board, and Rev. Mr. McNAMARA. These strong speakers were heard with pleasure. The next session of the Association will be held with Corinth church, in the northern part of the county, beginning October 14, 1920.
