There were enrolled 128 delegates, representing 31 schools. The reports showed marked gains made in Sunday school work the past convention year, under the active leadership of President Nixon LUCAS, Secretary John L. GREGG and the other officers. Randolph not only retains her standing as a Banner county, but also developed ten Banner schools during the year. Ninety-six Banner points were added during the year, an increase of nearly 60 per cent, bringing the total up to 257 points. There were many practical, helpful discussions given on Sunday school problems. Miss BOSE, one of the state workers, was present and charmed her hearers by her pleasing, sensible speeches. Good music was a feature of the occasion. The attendance was large and representative. $205 was pledged for the support of the state and county work the coming year. The Association paid all of its old debts. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, J. L. GREGG; Vice President, Nixon LUCAS; Secretary-treasurer, J. W. PAYNE; Executive committee: O. H. STEVENSON, chairman; B. F. DEWBERRY, F. P. NICHOLS, R. E. TAYLOR, T. C. GOODWIN, J. C. GRANT, Dr. Wm. WEATHERS. District Presidents: No. 1, Homer WILLOUGHBY, No. 2, Thos. E. BAILEY, No. 3, S. G. WATSON, No. 4, J. C. BUGG, No. 5, J. G. HARDY, No. 6, W. H. STEPHENS. Department Superintendents: Elementary, Miss Martha PITTMAN; Secondary, L. M. STEVENSON; Adult, L. L. VANN. Iduma, in the northern part of the county, and Corinth, in the southwest section, bid for the next convention, but by a close vote Corinth won. No one acquainted with the facts can deny that this organization is doing a great work in the moral and spiritual uplift of the county. It represents the combined thought and effort of all the evangelical denominations, working on lines of practical missions—the salvation of all the people. With such efficient, consecrated leadership as is represented in Messrs. GREGG, LUCAS and PAYNE, with the other officers to aid them, there is abundant reason to expect still greater results the coming year. ---------- [Excerpt from Wadley community column, entitled] ANOTHER GRADED ROAD PROPOSED Wadley, Sept. 20.—There are three banner Sunday schools in this district: Malone Baptist, Pleasant Hill and Wadley M. E. C. [Methodist Episcopal Church], South. John L. GREGG and John L. CARLTON attended the county S. S. Convention from Wadley. Wadley considers it quite an honor to be the home of the county Sunday school president. [Both from The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 22 September 1915, p.1]
