Smith: According to date in hand McGill's Church, located in Randolph County, near and on the west side of the Tallapoosa River, a little north of Hutton's Ford, now Louina, was organized by the Rev. John Hunter on a weekday in the summer of 1837. The principal members who constituted that Society were the Hardys, Harrises, McGills, and Smiths. Spencer Smith, who had just settled where Daviston has recently sprung up was appointed class leader at McGill's Society upon its organization. The house built there for worship was made of split logs and was eighteen by twenty fee covered with rough boards and had a dirt floor covered with pine straw, and seats, without backs, made of puncheons. The oldest marked grave in the cemetery is that of Emily McGill who died in 1857. History of Malone, Randolph County by Frank W. Barnett 1926 written for the Birmingham News. The writer had the privilege of being in the home of Nixon Lucas, moderator of the Randolph Baptist Association, and one of the leading spirits in the Malone church, he having moved into the town when there were only seven members on the rolls; and therefore, was enabled to get pretty full data about the church. The membership is 102. The church was admitted into the Randolph County Association in 1910. Nixon Lucas Sunday school superintendent. The deacons Nixon Lucas, J. H. Fisher, R.H.L. Liles and C.H. Fisher. It was organized in 1909 through the efforts of Revs. J. W. Dean, and "Jud" Dunaway, they having held a revival at Malone. Some of the charter members being Dr. C. A. Jordan and wife A.M. Stone Webb Jordan Rev. W. M. "Bud" Worthy was the first pastor and he was followed by T. E. Steals. Then came J. D. O'Keefe Tom Culpepper R. M. Allen W. M. Garrett H. Willoughby G. G. Shaddix The Malone Methodist church was organized some 10 years back, among the charter members being the Moncus, Stone, Daniel, McGill. Camp, Wilkinson, Windsor and Fetner families. The church was organized by the Rev. T. N. Crumpton. The first pastor was T. N. Crumpton, but the first one to serve after the church was built was B. F. Allen, then came George Elliot, D. C, Pennington, T. M. H. Holcomb, Paul Brasher and S. S. Owens. The present pastor is O. O. Morton, with Roy Moncus as Sunday school superintendent. The school was organized about 1907. the first principal being Robert Young, who was followed by Stevenson Peavey, Miss Emma T. Sharman, C. K. Parker, Prof. Humphrey, W. L. Lee, Mrs. Frank Bishop, H. M. Moody. Miss Eucal Crouch, the present principal, is assisted by Miss Fannie Sue Pate. There are 100 pupils enrolled.
