Union Baptist Church was organized and constituted and joined the Arbacoochee Baptist Association in 1854 with eleven charter members. In the 1890's Joseph D. Hadley, John W. Martin, Thomas E. Disharoon and Charles. G. Wilder were delegates for Union in the Arbacoochee Baptist Association. Rev. Alexander Pierce Key was a Baptist preacher of the Arbacoochee Association he served as Chairman, also was the paster at Union Baptist Church for a time. John F. Stewart gave 5 acres of land for the church & cemetery. The first church was of log construction and in the same general location in current church is today. Later a frame building of unfinished lumber was erected in 1908. Pictures of church through the years hangs in the current building. The two first graves are said to be Tom Stewart [Brother to John Frank Stewart] and Joe Stewart [Nephew of John Frank Stewart] both died in 1854. Church Record: We find that Union Church was constituted about the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty-Six and we believe a correct record kept of all acting and doings of the church up to the fourth of July Eighteen hundred and seventy-seven when by accident the dwelling of Brother J. W. Watwood the churches clerk was burned all of the Church records were destroyed in that fire. We the committee appointed to revise the church book beg leave to present the following: Elizabeth Avery [Elizabeth Poore mother-in-law of George French?] Bluford Levings [Levens] [Died before 1860] [He is buried Levens Chapel Church Cemetery] [Known then as "Levens Graveyard"] Martha Levings [Levens] [She is buried Levens Chapel] [Known then as "Levens Graveyard"] Wm. Loveless Sr. [William Loveless was born 21 Dec 1792 in SC and died 20 Mar 1873. His wife Caroline Carlton was born ca 1813 she died ca 1883/1884 in Randolph County AL] [They are possibly buried in Union Cemetery] Jas. Loveless Levy Loveless Wm. Loveless Jr. [Died Civil War] Ezekial Motes [Listed on 1870 Census, not listed on the 1875 Randolph County tax sale] [Note: His unmarried daughter is [listed in the death records buried in the Fowler Cemetery Randolph County AL] Jas. T. Wright [James Tidwell Wright was born 11 Sep 1800 he died 17 Dec 1875.
