This file is copyrighted and contributed by: Larealia Camp ============================================= October 2002 This was copied about 1977 from the church record by Mrs. Dixie Fincher ---------- Zion Church Constitution The State of Alabama, Randolph Co., on Friday before the first Sunday in Sept. 1867, the presbytery having been called met to constitute a church at Liberty Grove, appointed Bro. J. W. Noles, moderator of the presbytery, who offered prayer and announced themselves ready for work. The members wishing to be constituted into a church, appointed Bro. J. L. Hill as mouthpiece for the rest and Bro. Z. Darden as clerk pro-tem. The moderator called for letters of dismission of the members wishing to be constituted into a church which was produced and read by the clerk and approved by the presbytery. The Articles of Faith of the Arbicoochee Association was read and adopted as their faith and signed by the following charter members: J. L. Hill, Copsy Hill, Charles W. Tennant, Nancy L. Tennant, J. H. Moore, Maratha Moore, Zachariah Darden, Lucinda Darden, Martha Chaffin, Harret Hand, Jane Hand, Ann Huey, Martha M. Anderson, Elizabeth Abbott Maratha M. Mitchum. The moderator then proceeded to examine the mouth of the body and found them Orthodox and regular, dismissed the answers, all being satisfactory, the moderator then said bretheren and sisters having found you all dismissed orthodox we pronounce you a Baptist Church of Jesus Christ by the name of Zion. Prayer was then offered by the moderator. The presbytery then give the right hand of fellowship. The moderator then delivered to the mouth of the body the Bible and gave a strict charge. We the presbytery having this day examined into the standing of the first named bretheren and sisters and having found them regularly Orthodox and Orderly have this day constituted them into a church by the name of Zion this 30th day of August 1867.
