This promptitude on the part of Postmaster General deserves the thanks of the interested on this new route and will have decency to silence their just murmurings against inconveniences under which they have hereto labored. This mail, until otherwise ordered leave this place every Friday at 2 o'clock pm. and arrive from Wedowee every Monday at am PROPOSAILS for carrying the mails of the United States from the 1st of January 1838, (except as herein after stated,) to the 30th of June 1842. on the following Cost route in Alabama, will he received at the department until the 10th day of October next, inclusive, to be decided by the 21st of said month, on routes where the existing contracts have been extended to the 30th of June 1836, the new service (unless it be of a higher degree than that now in operation) will be made to commence on the 1st of July next. These cases are specially noted under their respective numbers. Proposals to carry the mail in four-horse post coaches will also be considered. 3662. From Jacksonville by White Plains and Oakfuskee to Wedowee, 40 miles and back twice a week. Leave Jacksonville every Monday and Friday at 5 am, arrive at Wedowee same days by 7 pm. From Talladega by Kelley's Springs, Hickory Level, Oakfuskee, and Laurel Hill, Ga., to Rotherwood, 76 miles and back once a neck. Leave Talladega every Monday at 5 am, arrive at Rotherwood next day by 6 pm. Leave Rotherwood every Wednesday at 5 am, arrive at Talladega a next day by 6 pm. 3665. From Talladega by Wedowee and Dickson's Mills to La Grange, GA. 99 miles once a week. Leave Talladega every Saturday at 6 am, arrive at La Grange every Monday by 5 pm. arrive Talladega every Thursday by 5 pm. 3666. From Talladega to Chambers C. H., 90 miles and back once a week Leave Talladega every Thursday at 6am arrive at Chambers C. H. next day by 5 pm. Leave Chambers C. H. every Saturday at 8 am, arrive at Talladega next day by 5 pm. 3667. From Wedowee by Chambers C. H., Cassitnh and Gerard to Columbus, Ga. 90 miles and back twice a week. From Wedowee, by Roanoke, Mount Hickory, Chambers C. H, Cuseta, Hallawoka, and Dover, to Columbus, Ga., 77 miles back twice a week. Leave Columbus every Monday and Thursday at 1 pm. arrive at Wedowee next Wednesday and Saturday by 8 pm. 1849: This Postmaster General has established a new Post Office at Wesobulga Randolph County during the week ending Sept. 29, 1849. Leave Louina every Friday at 8 am Arrive at Court Hill same day by 5 pm: Leave Court Hill every Saturday at 7 am; Arrive at Louina same day by 4 pm. 7033 From Wedowee, by Lamar, Eastville, Laurel Hill, Ga. Lodi, and Rutherford, to Newman 58 miles and back once a week. 7035 From Oxford, by Chulafinnee, Oakfusky, Arbacooehee, Winston, Eastville, Laurel Hill, Ga., to Carrollton, 68 miles and back, once a week 1857: A new post office, called "Buchanan;" has been established in Randolph County, Alabama, on the route from Wedowee, Ala., to Franklin, Ga., and Jonathan C. Barron, Esq., has been appointed Postmaster. 1859: FROM CUSSETA TO JACKSONVILLE ALABAMA. Via LaFayette, Milltown, Louina, Wedowee, Rockdale, Milner, Oakfuskee, Chulafinnee, Corn Grove & White Plains. The Contractors of the above line would respectfully notify the travelling public, that they are now running, and will continue to run a four-horse conch from Cusseta (on the Montgomery and West Point Railroad) daily.... Passengers will find excellent teams and careful drivers, through this line, and having the advantages of daylight travelling $7 per fare.
