William Mullally William Ragan Robert Caskey The Chulafinnee Academy will be opened Monday the 14th of January 1854 for the reception of male and female students under the superintendence of Rev. Mr. [William] Ragan. His wife who is well qualified to take charge of Primary Department. Terms are moderate. Broad can be had in good families on very reasonable terms. Mr. Ragan is to well be known as an experienced Teacher, who will spare no pains or industry for the advancement, comfort and moral training of all entrusted to his care, to need any recommendations. The healthy location and the inducement above, combined with the excellent society of Chulafinnee, offer a rare chance to parents at distance for educating their children. The Chulafinnee Academy was incorporated on February 8, 1861, with the following trustees: J.H. Bell [Possibly James H. Bell he was born 1818, he died in 1885 Cleburne County AL] Henry Blake [He was born 1832, he died in 1890 Randolph County AL] A.W. Denman [Capt. Absolum William Denman he was born 1821, he died 1899 Cleburne County AL] G.W. Gay J.J. Ligon J.H. McClintock [James H. McClintock born 1813 died 1893 Clay County AL] Wm H. McReynolds [He was born in 1834 in TN. He died 1904 in Cherokee County AL] C.P. Pittman W.T. Wood [Wm Thomas Wood he was born 1826. he died 1890 Heard County GA] Teachers in 1861: W.J. Kennedy Elizabeth Laws Oscar McCreless Wm H. McReynolds D.T.V. Pool James Stephens It is beleived the Academy was near Ragan's Chapel Cemetery [Not Proven]
