The two-story building was two large rooms. The Rueben Mason Lodge was on the top floor and the Ofelia school on the bottom floor. In 1869 Daniel & Charlotte Sharp donated the 10 acres land for the church & school. The students always planted a flower garden near the school. The children took a lot of pride in the school and the grounds. Smith was the principal. There were about 175 pupils. 1907: W.Z. Hodge, Teacher. 1908: W.Z. Hodge, Teacher. 1909: Mr. R.H. Harris, Principal/Teacher. 1910: Mr. Reuben H. Harris, Principal/Teacher. 1911: Mr. R.H. Harris, Principal/Teacher. 1912: Miss. Bessie Cofield, Teacher. 1914: R.R. Hunt, Principal/Teacher, Miss. Maudie McCain 1st asst. and Miss. Mattie Edwards 2nd asst. 1915: R.R. Hunt, Principal/Teacher and Miss Maudie McCain. 1916: R.R. Hunt, Principal/Teacher, Mr. Harmon Teacher, Miss. Snow Teacher Miss. Sudduth Teacher and Miss. Onie Taylor [Music] 1918: Mrs. Carrie L. Stewart, Teacher; Miss. Ethel Landers, Teacher; Mr. Pate Landers, Teacher and Miss. Clara Stovall, Teacher. 1919: Miss. Dora Ayres, Teacher. 1920: Mr. John Lucas, Teacher and Miss. Dora Ayres, Teacher. 1925: E.H. Harmon, Principal/Teacher. Mar-1926: The Ofelia school/Mason Lodge caught fire. The rest of the school term was held in the church. The Ofelia school was consolidated along with several other schools to New Site school. New Site school was built in the late 1920's it was located on top of the hill on road between the Ofelia voting house and the old Kelly cemetery is today on County Road 57. Notice in the Lineville Headlight: On August 16th [1926] the trustees of Dingler school will sell to the highest bidder the old school building. On that same day the trustees of Dingler, Mt. Gilead and Ofelia school will let the contact for a new school building which will be known as "New Site" to the lowest bidder. All interested be present. Trustees: Dingler, Mt. Gilead and Ofelia.
