The Rockdale Academy was in incorporated on March 4, 1848, in Randolph County.

[Rockdale was in the Morrison's Crossroads/Swagg area of Randolph County today]

The trustees of this school were:

Francis Perryman [He died in 1859 Randolph County AL] 

George Quattlebaum [Died in 1869 Chambers County AL]

Archibald Sawyer [1st Judge of Randolph County. He died in 1853 Randolph County AL] 

Jeptha V. Smith [Died in 1862 Glendale MS][Son-in-law of Gen. David Dickson]

George W. White [He was born in Franklin County GA. He died in 1868 Randolph County AL]

McCain, James [Also spelled McCane & McKeen]

Morris, James T. [In the household Sampson & Artemissa Christie in 1850]
