B. Gaston respectfully represents to your Honorable Board that he is a resident citizen of Randolph County in the state of Alabama, and that he resided in said state on the first day of January in 1899; that he enlisted in the service of the State, or Confederate States, as a private in Company E in the 12th Ala Regiment on the 10 day of Oct 1864, at Talledega in the State of Alabama, and that he was honorably discharged from such service on the 14th day of April 1865. that he did not desert the service of the Confederate States, or of the State of Alabama, that old age and defective vision that he is now unable to make a living by manual labor on account of old age and defective vision that he is at the time of filing this application 80 years of age and that his post office address is Corinth, Alabama he states that he does not own property to the value of 400 dollars signed by making his mark, S.B. Gaston Joseph R. Hood pension examiner states that S.B. Gaston personally appeared before him and made the statements and that these are correct and true. dated 16 July 1903 and signed by Joseph R. Hood, pension examiner for Randolph County, Alabama Additional Comments: his full name was Samuel Burns Gaston. His was a widower at the time of filing application.
