M. MOORE. It is noticeable that this number is rapidly decreasing each year. Judge MOORE states that four years ago there were 87 veterans on Randolph’s pension list, while this year the number is only 41. Seven veterans and the same number of widows have died within the past year. There are 92 widows on the list of this county, 26 of these being in the first class of more than 80 years of age, 49 in the second [class], between the ages of 70 and 80, and 17 in the third [class], under 70 years. Mr. J. H. ABBOTT is the oldest veteran in this county, being 97 years of age, and Capt. G. O. HILL, age 79, is the youngest. [From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 12 Jan 1927, p.4]
