Circuit court closed here on Thursday of last week. A large crowd' was in town on Wednesday and Thursday to hear the two murder cases on docket, Mr. Charlie Tennant, charged with killing Dave White, was convicted of murder in the second degree and given a sentence of ten years in the penitentiary. In the case of Robert Green, charged with the killing of Ponie Huddleston, the jury deliberated for several hours before bringing in a verdict of guilty of manslaughter in the first degree, fixing his punishment at five years in the penitentiary. The majority of the cases on the criminal docket were for distilling or otherwise violating the prohibition laws. Of those convicted for this offense, five received penitentiary sentences ranging from one year and a day to five years.
