Roanoke News August 31, 1881
Our Louina reporter informs us that lightning struck the dwelling house of Mr. 
Thomas Blake, near that place, about five o'clock last Saturday evening, doing 
considerable damage, though, strange to say, none of the inmates, consisting of 
Mrs. Blake and several children were hurt. The roof of the house was torn off. 
The soot in the chimney and a sack of beans hanging on the wall, were set on 
fire, and the ceiling of one room was torn off, and things scattered around 
generally.
