Mr. Jere Murphy of Bear Creek, an old and respected citizen of the county, has, we are sorry to learn, been afflicted with mental derangement for about two weeks. We learn that Mrs. Burgess, of the same neighborhood, is similarly. affected. Green Nutt, colored, sentenced to the penitentiary at the last term of our Circuit Court, was taken from the jail yesterday morning, and started in route for Wetumpka. Judge R. S. Hefiin returned from Washington last Friday. An almost unprecedented number of mortgages are being recorded in the probate office. They came mostly from West Point and LaFayette and are given by the farmers of Randolph to procure supplies. Mr. Noah Bolt, who lives in the western part of the county, near the fork of the river, reports a bad state of affairs in his community. He came to town last week to procure warrants for the arrest of certain parties whom he charges with shooting and throwing rocks at him one-night last week, while he was standing in his own door. He says it is unsafe for a man to travel the roads, in that section, after night.
