The entertainment committee was kept busy finding homes, but did well its part. The schools represented in the various contests were Center West, Concord, Hobson, Midway, Malone, Newell, Omaha, Ofelia, New Home, Rock Mills, Radney’s Chapel, Graham, Swag, Wadley, Corinth South, Corinth North, New Hope, Mt. Gilead. At the track meet in the morning Newell won the cup. Harris SMITH, of Center West, won the most points as individual athlete. At the ball game in the afternoon Newell won in the preliminary game for championship of North Randolph over New Home. Ofelia stood as a close third. Then Newell won over Hobson, southern champions, for the county championship. At night Miss Vesta WATERS, of New Home, won in the spelling bee. Mr. Eldridge GAY, of Wadley, won in the declamation contest. The program was quite interesting, the contests proving rather exciting at times, while a well trained quartette, a violinist and a pianist from the high school let no one get drowsy. The effect of this meeting will arouse interest in the public schools. Two days for the meeting next year is urged, the present meeting having proved such a success.
