Roanoke Leader April 25, 1958
The new bridge over the Tallapoosa River at the old ferry between Wedowee and 
Lineville will be dedicated at 11:00 o'clock Friday morning, April 25, Judge 
Stell Benefield announces Gov. James Folsom has advised local officials that he 
will be present to make the speech of dedication. Another of the very few ferries 
to be found in operation anywhere has now passed out of the picture, a victim of 
progress. For several years past the county had operated Cravers Ferry on a toll-
free basis. The new bridge which replaces it has been in use about a month. The 
public is invited to attend the program of dedication.
